Removal of zinc and copper from contaminated soil by using adsorbents and mulches

چکیده

Human activities such as mining, expanding industrial areas, application of fertilizers and pesticides on land, petrochemical spillages, etc. lead to an increase in the number heavy metals soil, thereby causing soil contamination. Similar air water contamination, contamination also has a severe impact ecological balance. Iron, chromium, zinc, copper, lead, cadmium, mercury are major metal pollutants found contaminated soil. The existence these toxic traces prevents biodegradation, leading soil-plant-animal-human imbalance. Nowadays, various ex-situ in-situ methods adopted for removing from ground. This paper discusses cost-effective way contaminants zinc copper by usage natural adsorbents mulches. Soil column method is studying permeability characteristics adsorption capacity RHA, SDA, CSA, Biochar, Mulches straw crumb rubber. Test results study indicate that adsorbents, mulches combination suitable

Mobility of zinc and copper in contaminated clay soil influenced by Actinidia deliciosa and incubation times

As a low cost byproduct, Actinidia deliciosa shell can be made into sorbent materials which are used in heavy metals immobilization. It has been investigated as a replacement for currently expensive methods of heavy metal immobilization from soil. In this study, soil samples were contaminated with copper (Cu) and zinc (Zn) at the rate of 600 ppm in separate dishes. The 5% Actinidia deliciosa sh...

Improved removal of Trinitrotoluene (TNT) from contaminated soil by inducing aerobic process: kinetic and chemical byproducts

This study describes the biological degradation of TNT by using induced aeration. Three plastic reactors were used. In each reactor 3 kg of soil were used. In order to increase the porosity of the soil, sawdust was added to soil. Textile wastewater treatment plant sludge was also added to soil. TNT at the concentrations of 1000 mg/kg of soil was added thereafter. Rhamnolipid biosurfactant at th...

Biodegradation of Polychlorinated Biphenyls by and Isolated from Contaminated Soil

Polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) cause many significant ecological problems because of their low degradability, high harmfulness, and solid bioaccumulation. Two bacterial strains were isolated from soil that had been polluted with electrical transformer liquid for more than 40 years. The isolates were distinguished as Lysinibacillus macrolides DSM54Tand Bacillus firmus NBRC1530...

Optimization of Copper and Zinc ions removal from aqueous solution by modified Nano-bentonite using Response surface methodology

Presence of heavy metal ions in wastewater is an important public concern. Adsorption are commonly used technique to remove various pollutants, including the ions, from contaminated water sources. However, common methods for adsorption are not completely efficient at low ion concentrations and the adsorbent should be improved in order to reaching the acceptable levels of adsorption efficiency. ...
